PortSort illustrator-members are select, screened professionals. Why have they chosen to display their work at PortSort? They're:
-- seeking new commissioned illustration projects from advertising, publishing,
entertainment or corporate direct clients; and/or
-- selling limited reproduction rights for their "stock imagery;" and/or
-- selling original works of illustration art consigned back to the artist from a completed project.

The PortSort cooperative organization is dedicated to promoting and expanding the scope of the illustration industry. The commissions PortSort receives are deducted from the Illustrator's fee, and go towards marketing and operating expenses.

We appreciate your business. We vow to make your talent search a pleasant, hassle-free, professional experience. All project negotiations are based on US copyright law and "industry trade customs." All projects require reproduction rights contracts signed by both parties. No business will be conducted through any country that is not a signatory of the Berne Convention.

PortSort.com is designed to be quick and simple to use -- no bells and whistles, cute animations or annoying links. To find the art you need:
-- search by the subject matter or theme of the image you need; or
-- search by the style or medium you're looking for; or
-- search a particular illustrator's portfolio by artist name; or
-- browse the list of all our illustrators. Small thumbnail images will
give you an idea of each artist's work, or
-- just e-mail a description of your project and we'll send a list of talent who have the skills to successfully complete your project.

Each illustrator's portfolio page includes a brief biography, including information about the illustrator's market experience. There's also information about each of the images, including second rights, availability, original art ownership and the time the illustrator took to complete the project.

Downloading, printing, or reproducing any images for presentation purposes requires permission from the illustrator, but such permission is usually granted. Ask first! Any reproduction of images without authorization will be vigorously prosecuted.

Need a "hard portfolio" for a client presentation? Just fill out the request form that appears on that illustrator's "expanded image" pages. We have hard portfolios for most of our illustrators available for overnight delivery.

Who are we?

Take a quick look at www.portsort.com and see the quality of talent represented -- people like Ezra Tucker, Bruce Wolfe, Larry Elmore, Bob Ziering, Victor Stabin and Roger Leyonmark -- as well as essential core talent needed for budget-sensitive projects. We're proud of the hundreds of specialist illustrators in areas such as Medical, Scientific, Technical, Food, Cartoon, Portrait, Storytellers, Editorial, Publishing, Caricature, Wildlife, Fantasy, Realistic Figure and more.

Every PortSort member-illustrator shows a 12-image portfolio to demonstrate full command of their illustrative specialty. You have the assurance that no image is a "fluke" -- and that each PortSort artist can be relied upon to successfully complete all assigned projects in a creative, timely, professional manner.

With the help of a group of paid industry professionals, PortSort.com takes great pains to clean the database of non-performing and marginal talent. Our appointed Selection Committee, comprised of respected image-selection professionals from editorial, publishing, advertising, and entertainment industries, ensure that PortSort.com is a always-fresh source of creative illustrators for art buyers -- "A Breath of Fresh Art".

Our roster of illustrators is constantly changing and evolving. New talent joins daily, while marginal talent is reconsidered. Illustrator-members are encouraged to update information and images as often as they like. PortSort.com is dedicated to building its reputation for quality illustration, rather than number of illustrators.

Need a team?

PortSort.com has been very successful at putting together teams of artists to produce high profile, large-scope projects, such as a team of cartoonists to produce comic books for NASCAR, and a team of technical/instructional artists to complete 200 "do it yourself" instructional illustrations in ten days for Sears packaging.

We have successfully created a team to produce hundreds of icons used for web site buttons for a nationally-known sports clothier. Some of our consistent clients are producing numerous packaging illustration projects per month. They are very impressed with the fact that they deal with only one PortSort representative instead of each individual illustrator. And they love the fact that their packaging retains the individuality and creativity required to keep them competitive on the shelf.

All negotiating, contracts, invoices, problem solving and project "bird dogging" is handled by a professional PortSort representative, even as the client deals directly with the illustrator regarding the creative details of the illustration project. You -- the art buyer -- get the best of both worlds!
